A Finished Surface for Everyday Outdoor Living

A covered patio, front entry and garden walkway have different demands from a garage floor. Outdoor concrete faces direct sunlight, irrigation, windblown grit and rain. Your coating specification should account for those conditions before you choose a color.

Our exterior process can include proprietary primer, a UV-stable basecoat, smaller decorative flake and protective topcoats, with a return visit for a matte finish when specified. We confirm the complete system after inspecting your concrete.

Choose the Finish for the Space

Patios and outdoor seating areas

Coordinate the finish with your home’s stucco, pavers and outdoor furniture. A decorative flake system with a specified matte finish can create a natural-stone-inspired appearance without pretending to be stone. Review physical samples in both sun and shade before making your selection.

Walkways and front entries

Discuss foot traffic, wet conditions, edges and transitions with the installer. Surface texture should suit the intended use. Keep drainage paths and movement joints part of the planning conversation; a coating is not a substitute for correcting drainage or structural problems.

Browse our decorative flake color guide for inspiration, then ask which blends and flake sizes are available for your exterior specification.

Texture is a project decision. No finish makes a wet or dirty walkway slip-proof. Ask about the texture proposed for your surface and how it should be maintained.

Plan for Phoenix Sun and Heat

Ask which exposed components in your coating system are designed for UV resistance. Clean Air’s exterior specifications use materials selected for outdoor exposure, including a UV-stable basecoat and protective finish appropriate to the project.

Coating concrete does not turn it into a cooling surface. Color, shade and exposure affect how an outdoor area feels. Do not assume a decorative finish will be comfortable for bare feet in direct summer sun.

No-Grind Preparation Starts With Suitable Concrete

Our proprietary spray-on primer provides a different bonding approach on qualifying exposed concrete. When the slab is suitable, it avoids traditional concrete grinding and the concrete dust that process creates.

What we inspect

We review surface condition, cracks, contamination, moisture concerns and previous treatments. Tell us about standing water, peeling paint or sealer, and areas where the surface is crumbling. Those details help determine the preparation and whether coating is appropriate.

When removal is needed

A full or mostly intact previous coating normally requires mechanical removal so the new system can reach the concrete. No-grind does not mean every existing finish can simply be coated over. The installer explains the required work before confirming your quote.

What to Expect During Installation

  1. Inspect and define the scope. Confirm measurements, repairs, removal, finish choices and access.
  2. Prepare and coat. Complete the approved preparation, primer, exterior basecoat, flake broadcast and protective coating steps.
  3. Return for the specified finish. Exterior projects using our matte finish include a second-day return when conditions and the approved schedule allow.
  4. Reopen the area when cleared. Follow the installer’s directions for walking, moving furniture and cleaning. Installation completion and readiness for use are different milestones.

Weather, slab conditions and the selected system can change the schedule. We confirm timing for your outdoor project rather than applying a garage installation promise to a patio.

Keep Your Outdoor Finish Looking Good

Sweep away loose grit regularly, clean spills promptly and follow the care instructions supplied with your installation. Ask before using a pressure washer, harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools. Keep irrigation and drainage issues under control and avoid dragging heavy furniture across the surface.

A coating still needs care. It cannot prevent leaves, desert dust or standing water from collecting on a patio.

Phoenix Patio Coating Questions

How much will my patio or walkway cost?

We quote outdoor projects based on measured area, concrete condition, existing-coating removal, repairs and the specified finish. Send photos and approximate dimensions for an initial conversation; inspection confirms the final scope and price.

Can you coat over my old patio paint?

Do not assume the old paint can stay. An intact coating generally needs removal before the primer can reach the concrete. We inspect the surface and explain the preparation needed.

Is this the same as an epoxy garage floor?

Outdoor coatings need their own material specification and schedule. Sunlight, water exposure, texture and the desired matte appearance all influence the system we recommend.

What warranty applies outdoors?

Ask for the written warranty applicable to your specific exterior installation. Confirm eligibility, adhesion coverage, exclusions and care requirements before work begins; do not assume every cosmetic change or type of damage is covered.
